Authentic and Connected: the brighter side of public speaking

10 October 2017

Too many of us are wasting time and energy in the fear of public speaking. When we do speak, we often feel a pressure to hide behind a mask of what we imagine will be acceptable, liked or respected. Far from helping, this pressure distorts our communication, making it harder to stay present, focused and clear, and harder to relax and enjoy speaking. The connection and the impact suffer. To build the confidence to step forwards authentically and enjoy speaking, we need to get out of unhelpful thought patterns, and listen more carefully to our body. By developing more awareness of our physical and emotional states, we can find a more satisfying way to communicate – even in challenging circumstances.

Come to this interactive session to explore the brighter side of speaking, and what it might be like to

  • be more present and grounded when you speak
  • connect more with your listeners
  • use your presence and connection to have more impact
