About the event

Do you want to:

  • Get clarity on what motivates you?
  • Understand what powers you through tough times as well as good times?
  • Know what needs to be present in your life to support your wellbeing and happiness?

If you are reflecting on these questions and wanting to explore the answers to these for yourself, then do join us on 12 October at our next online Aspiring Women event.

I am designing and facilitating an insightful, fun, and inspiring session, where we will increase our self- awareness and discover, amongst other things, what:

  • Motivates us when things get tough to carry on and get over obstacles in our way
  • Inspires us to choose to say yes or no to options with a positive intent, resulting in us feeling good about our decisions

You will go away with a better understanding of what your personal values are, and the important role they play in your life.  You will be able to use this knowledge to be make decisions to create the life you choose, every single day.

No one said it was always easy, but it is possible!

I look forward to you joining us.

Why this workshop is valuable

No-one could have foreseen the challenges we overcame in 2020.  We have all found our way through.  Most of us have experienced our resources being depleted as we find ways to cope with whatever demands we have faced – and continue to face.

Taking time for self-care enables us to rebuild these resources.  We can help ourselves by finding ways to make this a non-negotiable part of our routine, in whatever way is practical in our world.

Outcomes

  • Increase understanding of what we mean by psychological (mental) wellbeing and the impact of stress
  • Identify simple ways in which we can help ourselves overcome obstacles to prioritising self-care
  • Know that self-care is not a luxury, but a priority, to ensure we have the physical and mental resources we need to be able to do everything else.

During this practical participative session we identify the main ways we can include self-care into our lives – however much or little time available.  Using these ideas, we build a tailored self-care plan

Take this hour to think about how you can build your resources to be in the best place to meet and overcome them and maximise your wellbeing and resourcefulness.

Feedback from attendees at previous sessions:

  • Great session. Came away with a fabulous framework to pull a self-care plan together
  • Really pragmatic session, I felt both challenged and supported
  • I felt the session was absolutely amazing and insightful

The session will be facilitated by Marion Hewitt, FCIPD.  She describes herself as advocate for HR.  She is also an accredited trainer with Mental Health First Aid England, a positive psychology practitioner with a particular interest in self-compassion, and award winning coach.  Through her company Protea Solutions www.proteasolutions.co.uk she delivers mental health awareness and Mental Health First Aid training as open courses and within organisations.  She is passionate about ensuring this is part of wider business strategy enabling the outcome of ‘unleashing the power of their people’ – the strapline for her business.  Her coaching specialism is building confidence and credibility, particularly for HR professionals, which draws on her background within HR.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is the campaign theme: #ChooseToChallenge.

At Aspiring Women, we wanted to offer an opportunity for us to support this event which underpins one of the intentions of Aspiring Women Groups: women supporting other women.

During this special IWD 2021 event, Sheela Hobden, Shirley Thompson, and Marie Smith are offering small group coaching (3 small groups). This year more than any other we feel that many of us have been challenged in numerous ways. This event is a chance to dedicate some time to be focussed and to think creatively about a current challenge.

During the session, one person per group will have the opportunity to bring a specific challenge they are facing to be coached by the group to think differently and find a way forward. The topic or challenge could be anything that is holding you back and getting in the way of you ‘choosing to challenge.’  If you are the person bringing the challenge you will benefit from seeing and thinking about your challenge through different lenses.  If you are not bringing your own specific challenge to the group, the one being tackled may be close to your own and so you will learn from the exploration. Simply by being a part of this event will support you to open up your thinking and provide the opportunity to put your own challenge into a different light too.

For your information, Sheela, Shirley, and Marie facilitate monthly The Pivot Pod group coaching sessions, and this special event on 8 March, is an adapted version of The Pivot Pod. [For more details of the Pivot Pod check out: The Pivot Pod (standard – for anyone): https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/15041]

This is a combined session with both London and Dorset groups as it is an online event again due to Covid.

Nicola’s passion is to empower people with knowledge and support on a topic we know little about, eradicate this taboo subject from the workplace and home and to remove the stigma around the age of a menopausal woman.

Nicola’s presentation will include symptoms and practical tips to help manage them, information and facts and a completely open and honest account of her own premature menopause journey, which is often relatable or supportive to others.

Nicola Green
